KTM 250 Duke vs KTM 250 ADV: KTM’s 250cc Versions

admin

For starters, you should know that the KTM Duke series stands for the street-naked bike. On the other hand, the KTM 250 ADV, as you might expect, is an adventure bike. Here’s the curated list of KTM bikes that you can go through, alongside their latest location-based prices.

Further, the 250 Duke is priced slightly below its 250 Adventure (ADV) counterpart. That said, the 250cc KTM Duke price is Rs 2.40 lakh, while the KTM 250 ADV carries a tag of Rs 2.48 lakh. Both are ex-showroom figures.

Further, both bikes serve different purposes and have more or less the same engine output. In addition, the features they offer are also different.

So, let’s see how these two bikes stack up against each other in terms of features and specifications. Let’s read on.

Specifications

Before delving straight into the figures, let’s talk about the underpinnings of these two bikes. Speaking of which, both bikes have a slightly different frame. The 250 Adventure is structured using a steel trellis frame with powder coating, while the 250cc KTM Duke is structured on a split-trellis frame. Both frames, however, are robust and agile.

Now, as far as the figures are concerned, both bikes are BS6 Phase 2 compliant. The KTM 250 ADV’s 248-cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine is tuned to churn out 29.63 bhp at 9000 rpm and 24 Nm of peak torque at 7500 rpm.

On the other hand, the KTM 250 Duke has a 249.07-cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which is tuned to pump out 30.57 bhp at 9250 rpm and 25 Nm of peak torque at 7250 rpm.

If you take figures seriously, irrespective of the body type, the Duke version should be your consideration. Check out the Duke 250 price here.

Moreover, both are mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission. For added benefit, both have an assist- and slipper-clutch. This feature ensures that there are smooth gear shifts at high speeds.

Apart from that, the KTM 250 Duke and 250 Adventure have slightly different fuel tank capacities. The former has a fuel tank capacity of 15 litres, while the latter has a fuel tank capacity of 14.5 litres. For your reference, a large fuel tank capacity translates to more range.

Suspensions, Brakes and Tyres

It should be worth mentioning that these bikes are tuned as per their utilities, plus they are engineered by keeping the conditions of Indian roads in mind.

Further, their suspension setups are WP-sourced and are of WP’s Apex version. Both have a nearly identical suspension setup, though. The only difference is the availability of an adjustable rear suspension. The Duke 250 has a ten-step pre-load adjustable suspension, while the 250 ADV has a monoshock at the rear. Both bikes have inverted forks at the front.

So, if your purpose is to travel within cities, the Duke should be the pick. You can check out the 250 Duke price here.

But, if you want something that can do inter-state travelling, then the ADV is the best choice. Moreover, adventure (ADV) bikes can offer the best of both worlds (on- and off-road) but they can be quite uncomfortable for commuting within cities only.

Apart from that, the braking duties are taken care of by dual disc brakes. The size of the front disc brakes is the same, rated at 320mm, while their rear disc brakes measure 230mm and 240mm on KTM 250 Adventure and 250 Duke, respectively. In addition, both KTM 250 bikes run on alloy rims.

Features

The Austrian bike manufacturer offers these two bikes in a standard variant only and both are fully loaded. The common features of these two offerings include a fully digital LCD instrument cluster, which shows speed, RPM, distance made, fuel level, and gear shifts. They are also equipped with a side-stand alarm, a gear indicator, a low fuel indicator, a low oil indicator, a low battery indicator, and a clock.

Further, both have a service reminder indicator, a shift indicator, a pass light, a killswitch, an electric start type, and a stepped seat with pillion footrests and grabrails.

For illumination, both have LED DRLs, LED brake lights, LED tail lights, and LED turn lamps. However, the 250 ADV has a halogen headlight, while the 250 Duke has an LED headlight.

And, unlike the ADV 250, the 250 Duke has mobile app connectivity. This feature allows the owner to access the vehicle status, live tracking, GPS and navigation, service information and other relevant statuses. But given the KTM ADV price, it should have had mobile app connectivity, as well.

On the safety front, both iterations are equipped with dual-channel ABS and automatic headlights.
Last, but not least, the KTM 250 Duke boasts Quickshifter+ and ride-by-wire features.

Prices and Variants

As mentioned earlier, both bikes are offered in a standard variant. The KTM 250 Duke price is Rs 2.40 lakh, while the KTM 250 ADV’s price is Rs 2.47 lakh.

All are ex-showroom prices in Delhi, as of October 2023. Please note that these prices are subject to change without any prior notice to the customer.
